Dermatochalasis is a condition where excess skin and fat in the eyelid cause drooping, obscuring vision. Ptosis, much like dermatochalasis, is the drooping of the upper eyelid due to weakening of the lid muscle that blocks your vision.
Commonly treated by blepharoplasty surgery, the stretched muscle is reattached to its origin. The operation is tailored to the severity of your ptosis and strength of the levator muscle. A simple test, called visual field, shows physicians if surgery is necessary.
Schedule an appointment with Greater Ohio Eye Surgeons for a visual field test.
