Preparing for Your Appointment

Duration of Appointment

Ophthalmology appointments last about 60 minutes. During the appointment, you will receive a comprehensive eye exam, and will most likely have your eyes dilated with eye drops.

What to Bring

At the initial visit, the ophthalmologist will need to know about your general health. Be sure to tell the doctor or the clinical staff about:

  • Medical problems
  • Surgical procedures
  • Allergies
  • Medications that you are taking
  • A list of any questions you would like addressed by the doctor

Exam Summary

Your ophthalmologist will review findings and present a comprehensive treatment plan for you. He or she will discuss future therapy and/or appointments at this time.
